Vintage Early Plastic Celluloid Jewelry Box | Old Luxe

A charming vintage French Ivory Celluloid lidded box measuring 4-1/4" in diameter, 4" high including the finial. The Celluloid box probably dates to the 1920s and is in nice condition with no cracks or chips. Probably designed for use on a vanity, it is just adorable. A classic addition to any collection or display of vintage plastics collectibles.

When compared to real ivory, French ivory is very light in weight. It was en vogue from its inception through the late 1930s, with its heyday between 1910 and 1930. Many people today mistake French ivory for antique Bakelite, which eventually replaced it.
